Having established trust in the community, SEV is known as the underground voice of Crenshaw. Dubbed "Mayor Of Leimert", artist Six Sev born Elijah Simmons has emerged as a leader beyond his artistry with his current campaign to be part of Los Angeles' City Council.

Sev is a community organizer servicing the public through organizing clean ups, curating marketplaces, activating local business and co-producing Leimert Park's Juneteenth Festival.

Founder of the Pray For The Hood movement, Sev has fostered youth engagement in the community and uses his art to combat gentrification and initiate conversations around social issues.

Sev currently serves on the advisory council for Destination Crenshaw, and was chosen by Mayor Karen Bass' office for the LA African American Young Business Leaders Delegation of 2024.

Having a unique perspective that spans the experiences of all those around him has put him in the unique position of entering politics with an opportunity to do more tangible meaningful work for the city as a whole.
